The Lightning network reached a capacity of more than 3,900 BTC!

In recent days, a new “achievement” of the Lightning network was recorded. After heading through a stage of recovery from its collapse last April, it managed to reach a new all-time high. The capacity of LN easily exceeded 3,700 BTC to stand above 3,900. Below we show you the details of the event.

Recovery from the market downturn

While cryptocurrencies faced a downtrend that “wrapped up” the expectations of traders, the progress of the ecosystem continued its course. The development of improvements in the protocol was still ongoing, in the search for streamlining transaction processes.

A few months ago, the Lightning network experienced a “stumbling block”, which led it to lose part of its operational capacity. In this way, the LN power was reduced by about 285 BTC (almost 8% of the network). With this drawback, a minimum of 3,402.27 BTC was reached, a level from which it would begin to recover.

In this regard, with an independent movement of crypto market quotes, transaction processing did not stop growing to the present day. Not only did the capacity resume up to 3,700 BTC, but it continued its journey until it set a new record.

Strengthening the ecosystem

Recently, a peak was recorded in the number of Bitcoins that the Lightning network can handle. In accordance with the “advance” of the acceptance of cryptocurrencies, the layer 2 protocol managed to score a new historical maximum higher than 3,900 BTC.

The growth amounted to 3,915.77 BTC, thus presenting an “improvement” that supports the optimistic view of the market. Efforts are being made to obtain a more stable network, which will allow users to issue orders for faster and less expensive exchanges.

Operators have had to navigate the market with an ecosystem that possesses high commission rates for each transaction. The Lightning network tries precisely to “solve” this problem, also considering higher data transfer speeds.

Market forecasts point to widespread adoption of layer 2, the implementation of which continues to gain ground. The conformation of more “reliability” is expected, by taking advantage of the security advantages of the current system and the efficiency of LN.
